Pin It Today we started off with a studio full of 3 month old babies. Laughter, tears and sleepy eyes in both sessions. 3 month old babies are so much fun to photograph. They know now how to smile and are really alert to their environment. They think the are big kids already and don't wanna be held or supported but yet they can do it on their own. This is the age when you see their little personalities shine through. So amazing! Then this afternoon we met Cheyann and Jackson on Jekyll Island. These adorable sweeties were the WINNERS of our big beach give away! I couldn't have hoped for a more fun session! Thanks so much for entering our contest and even a bigger thank you for letting us have fun today!

A ritual I have for starting a new year is to review the past year and be grateful for the opportunities and the clients that have came my way. This past year I have had so much to be grateful for! Fantastic weddings and events, numerous commercial projects, I stayed busy all year. On top of all this I have also decided to open Dutch Girl Studio this year.If you haven't checked it out go to www.dutchgirl-studio.com or find us on facebook. So many excited things are happening and I want to share with all of you. I have been given SO much in my life that I am eternally grateful for. One of my favorites gifts has been the one God gave me of having an artistic mind and being able to see the world a little bit differently. I could never possibly thank HIM enough for blessing me with the talent of photography and art. I am SO lucky and blessed to be able to share with others with what God has given me. I don’t claim to be the best out there, as I believe I am FAR from it. But I am so grateful for what I do have and would never take it for granted. Because God has given me so much, I want to use my gift to give to someone else. With all of that being said I have decided to run a contest to give away a free wedding package to a deserving bride & groom. ! I’m SO excited about this and cannot wait to tell you about it. How to enter:
It’s easy! To enter the contest all you have to do is email me at: dutchgirlstudio@gmail.com and be sure to include the following:

- bride & groom’s name
- wedding date & time of ceremony
- wedding location & venue
- photo of you and your fiance’
- and last but not least, send me a mini version of your love story or how you fell in love and why you feel as though you deserve this- be as detailed and honest as you like!

The rules:

- your wedding must be in 2011
- I must be available on your wedding date
- all of my goods and services are free, but if any travel is required you must pay for all expenses involved for me and my assistant (travel, hotel, etc)
- because each wedding date is so valuable, the winner must put down a $500 deposit (to guarantee your date) that will be fully refunded on date of wedding once agreement has been fulfilled by both parties.

Because only one lucky couple can be the grand winner, I will also give away photography time. The next 3 couple's to book their special day with me, will receive with whichever collection they purchase up to 6 hours of photography time for FREE!!!

The contest runs for 2 weeks starting NOW and ends January Thursday the 27th.. The winner will be chosen on January 28, 2011 and announced on the blog www.silvyphotos.blogspot.com . If you are looking for a unique style of senior photography, you’ve come to the right place! Our goal is to stay away from traditional senior poses. Instead, we strive for vintage, urban-chic, and fashion inspired images.

We offer very unique products that no other studio offers. There are so many to choose from, and so cool... In fact, you really just need to come in and see for yourself!

So lets talk about High School Senior Portrait suggestions……………..

Now if you are coming to the Studio for your Senior Portraits….this is what I like….if you are a reader but plan on going to another Studio for you Senior Portraits….check with that Photographer because we all like something different and our styles vary so what I might do with an outfit….someone would do something different. So always check.

Variety…..I like it…..please, pretty please don’t bring the same shirt in 3 different colors. I like to see different necklines….different colors, textures.

Layers…..I love layers……please, pretty please bring jackets, coats, sweaters, cardigans…..you can never bring me enough! Now when I say……coats….don’t bring big, big coats…..well one if it has a cool hood but I am talking thinner, lighter ones.

Jewelry……some like a lot…..I don’t…..too much is……….TOO MUCH……I like for you bring some statement pieces but matchy, matchy is not my fav!

Accessories…..scarves…..big ones, little ones….I love them all……Hats…..make great images…..I have some but you are welcome to bring some too….also don’t forget about lots of other goodies….like leg warmers, arm warmers, vests, belts….don’t forget about BELTS….those are really nice and add to an outfit.

Clothing……….

Bring lots of shirts….dressy, casual, simple and fun….never forget to bring your favorite shirt! Jeans….just a couple pairs will do. Don’t worry about the bottoms so much…..tops are more important…..Dresses….are fun….I love long ones, short ones, flirty ones or preppy ones……even Prom dresses are really nice.

Makeup……you be you……if you don’t wear a lot….I suggest you don’t wear a lot….if you don’t wear makeup…..I suggest you don’t wear makeup (except some tinted moisturizer, a little color on your checks and some gloss…..this is not the day to change your look…..who are we photographing?????? YOU so be you. You are Beautiful…..as YOU! Don’t try to cover blemishes….I can do that….

Thought I would answer some of the most frequently asked questions here, just to make it easier on you and your parents. We are available (Monday-Friday from 10-6pm) to answer any other questions you might have, but this is what we hear most frequently...

1) Can we just stop by the studio to ask questions and see your products?

yes... anytime but in order to make your experience truly unique, we ask that you make an appointment to come visit us in studio for a consultation. We will answer all your questions and show you (in person) everything we have to offer you!


2) What type of products do you offer?

There are so many truly unique and one-of-a-kind products you just have to come in to see them. We promise you will be amazed!

3) Do you offer albums to display my photographs?

Yes, and these albums can be as custom as your images. We're not kidding either, these albums are *brand new* to our product line, and they are absolutely amazing! You can choose custom fabrics and other design elements to make an album that fits your images and personality perfectly!

Pin It For all of you that remembered last years "end of the year contest" know that it is about time to pick out some of ours special and valued families. Last year I left it up to you to nominate either yourself, a special friend or family member. This year I decided to take matters into my own hands and point out some of the families that have left a memorable impression on me this past year! For the great reason that you left an impression on me, I have chosen a gift that hopefully does the same thing for you!

So lets make it fun! If I leave names on here that would make it tooo easy :) so here we go, I give you a description of who and why they made my top 5... that way the guessing is more fun!

Family #1 : Greatest Sibling Love!
This family comes to visit us quite often, because the baby is a part of our Baby's First Year plan! Reason why I picked them.... here we go.... sometimes I make a photograph that really didn't turn out as great or exact the way I want it to be and the best part is, I am gonna mention it to you too!! lol Now this mama, no matter how I try to explain it's not really that great of a shot. She loves it... did I say that right? LOVES IT... any kind of love between brother and sister is soo appreciated by mom that it really tickles my mind!

Family #2 : Jolliest Family!
This family left an amazing memory in my heart.... it was one of those Georgia summer days.... 90 degrees out and definitely not the right time to take your precious girls out playing. But as much as everything seemed wrong to me, the photo session went great (these girls are awesome) and mom absolutely kept our spirit up with her joyful smile and encouraging words that everything was perfect! Sometimes I also need words of encouragement to see the best at any time or place...

Family #3 and #4 : Best Helping hands!
These two go hand in hand. They are related to each other. Both have little ones. And they always come together with the baby being photographed and somehow manage to leave the other baby in dad's hands to be taken care of so mom can help out with the session. They have the best coordination and teamwork I have ever seen in here. Are always prepared for anything, and are always a step ahead of me lol How great is this right?! Makes me wonder if we can write this in our portrait agreement " always bring help!" HAHA

And last but not least
Family #5 : Just Because...
This Family has been randomly selected... I couldn't make up my mind on so many amazing memories that I just picked one. After picking, ... I do have to say that this family has been a part of my career for a while and they are very much appreciated!
